Renata Close Up

Polish born Renata Jonscher was originally classically trained in Cieszyn, then later in Strasbourg and London. At the age of twenty she began her professional career as a soloist in Poland with the hugely popular Slask folk ensemble. She has since performed throughout Europe.

Her performances feature a wide repertoire, ranging from classical and folk to traditional and religious songs. She was named Young Vocalist of the Year in the Province of Katowice in 1993, and in 1998 received the Silver Medal of the Republic of Poland for her contribution to musical culture.

She has performed in numerous concerts, radio and television broadcasts and commercial recordings. In 2000 she presented her latest CD personally to Pope John Paul II. Then in 2001, as a Sony Classical Artist, she recorded an album to celebrate the life work of the distinguished Polish composer Stanislaw Hadyna.

2006 sees Renata, living in London, working on a new album of entirely original material. Her CD 'Entelechy' is the fruit of her collaboration with composer Patrick Wilson and lyricist Tim Williams.

Her music video 'Islands of Sorrow' is currently featured on Classic FM TV.
